CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK 1st-7th FEBRUARY

In February we’re supporting Children’s Mental Health Week.Set up by children’s mental health charity Place2Be, the week shines a spotlight on the importance of children and young people’s mental health. This year’s theme is Express Yourself. Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film, and doing activities that make you feel good. It’s important to remember that being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show who you are, and how you see the world, that can help you feel good about yourself. Covid has had a significant impact on the mental health of children, with several research reports pointing to issues such as maintaining friendships, family relationships, home learning, health, physical activity, and being outdoors. Did you know that 1 in 8 children and young people have a diagnosable mental health condition? The earlier children and young people can be supported to deal with any mental health problems the less likely it will affect them in later life than if it went unaddressed. Place2Be have loads of great resources for parents, teachers, families, youth groups, etc on their website where you can also find out more about Children’s Mental Health Week  Children’s Mental Health Week 2021 | | | | | |
